FAQs

  • Can I use a car seat on the front passenger seat?

    Answer

Child car seats can be placed on the front passenger seat, but the rear seat is preferable. When using a baby car seat (0-13 months) on the front passenger seat, make sure the seat does not have a frontal airbag or that the airbag has been deactivated. When using car seats for older children (9 months to 12 years), the front passenger seat must be in the rearmost position.

  • Do Maxi-Cosi car seats fit in all cars?

    Answer

Maxi-Cosi child car seats have been developed as universal car seats. This means that they should fit in almost any car. In accordance with the European safety standard ECE R44/04, car seats are universal if a specified minimum length of seat belt is required for installation. The car industry is aware of this. Car manufacturers sometimes fit safety seat belts that are just barely long enough for correct installation of child car seats. If the user manual of your car states that the seat belts are suitable for using universal car seats, this should not be a problem. However, we recommend that you try installing the car seat first before purchasing it. Your retailer can help you with this.

  • How do I wash the fabric cover?

    Answer

The cover can be washed by hand in accordance with the instructions on the care label. The instruction manual contains detailed instructions on how to remove the fabric cover.

You can see some washing instructions movies on the Maxi-Cosi Youtube channel

  • I have had an accident while the child was sitting in the car seat. Can I still use the seat?

    Answer

We recommend not using the seat again. At impact speeds from 30 km/h, invisible damage may occur. To assure your child of absolute safety in another accident, you should replace the seat. Destroy the old seat to ensure that it cannot be used for another child. If the car can be repaired, also have all the car seat belts that were activated during the accident replaced.

  • Is it safe to use second-hand car seats?

    Answer

We advise against purchasing a used car seat. The history of a second-hand car seat is often unknown. In other words, you cannot know for certain how it has been used. Car seats that have been involved in an accident are no longer guaranteed to be safe. The car seat may also be damaged in some other way or may be incomplete.

  • My car seat is defective. What should I do?

    Answer

In addition to the sale of our product, we have also entrusted the service and warranties for our products to a number of official dealers/retailers (see our website). After all, you bought the product from the retailer, which means he or she is obliged to deal with your complaints and settle them in the correct manner.

  • Where can I find the prices?

    Answer

Our prices are the recommended retail prices and can only be obtained from the retailer.

  • Why do I need a car seat?

    Answer

The use of an approved child car seat is required by law for all children up to a height of 1.35 metres. This requirement applies to all countries that belong to the European Union. Car seats and boosters with ECE R44/04 certification meet the minimum requirements of this new law.

  • From what age can the support pillow be removed from the Maxi-Cosi car seat?

    Answer

The support pillow provides your child with added comfort right after birth. There is no specific age at which the support pillow should be removed from the Maxi-Cosi car seat. This depends on the size of your child. Once you notice that your child is no longer lying comfortably because his or her head is lying on the ‘roll’, you can remove the support pillow from the Maxi-Cosi car seat.

  • How long can I use the Maxi-Cosi without a break?

    Answer

This is subject to a lot of misunderstanding. This is generally said and written out of concern for babies and, in a nutshell, boils down to the fact that a baby car seat such as a Maxi-Cosi Citi SPS or Maxi-Cosi Cabrio(Fix) and Maxi-Cosi Pebble should not be used excessively. Children should not lie in a fixed position for too long unnecessarily. They must be given the opportunity to develop their motor system and arm, back and neck muscles. As manufacturers of the first car seat for babies in Europe, the Maxi-Cosi, naturally we have been including this in our instructions for many years. So do not place a baby in his or her seat for the entire day for reasons of convenience, but give him or her the opportunity to develop. This also applies to front pack carriers and all other products in which a baby sits, hangs or lies in a stationary position. However, this is not problematic whatsoever when taking a relatively long car journey or holiday trip once in a while. Our advice is as follows: stop once every 2 hours. After all, the baby must also eat and be changed on a regular basis.

  • Why do babies have to travel in a rear-facing position?

    Answer

Babies have a large and heavy head compared to the rest of their body. In addition, their neck muscles are not yet fully developed. If the baby is transported in a forward-facing position, his or her head will be thrown forward in the event of a head-on collision. This can cause serious neck injury and may even be fatal. By placing the baby in a rear-facing position, the forces exerted during the crash will be distributed across the baby’s entire back.
