For some Maxi-Cosi car seats, adaptors are available separately for use on a pram and/or pushchair. We recommend taking your car seat and pram to your retailer to check whether adapters are available.
The support pillow provides your child with added comfort right after birth. There is no specific age at which the support pillow should be removed from the Maxi-Cosi car seat. This depends on the size of your child. Once you notice that your child is no longer lying comfortably because his or her head is lying on the ‘roll’, you can remove the support pillow from the Maxi-Cosi car seat.
This is subject to a lot of misunderstanding. This is generally said and written out of concern for babies and, in a nutshell, boils down to the fact that a baby car seat such as e.g. a Maxi-Cosi Citi SPS or Maxi-Cosi Cabrio(Fix) and Maxi-Cosi Pebble should not be used excessively. Children should not lie in a fixed position for too long unnecessarily. They must be given the opportunity to develop their motor system and arm, back and neck muscles. As manufacturers of the first car seat for babies in Europe, the Maxi-Cosi, we have of course been including this in our instructions for many years. So do not place a baby in his or her seat for the entire day for reasons of convenience, but give him or her the opportunity to develop. This also applies to front pack carriers and all other products in which a baby sits, hangs or lies in a stationary position. However, this will not be a problem at all if you need to make a relatively long car journey or holiday trip once in a while. Our advice is as follows: stop once every 2 hours. After all, the baby must also eat and be cleaned on a regular basis.
The Maxi-Cosi CabrioFix and Maxi-Cosi Pebble from model year 2001 and up can be used with all pushchairs/Maxi-Taxis from Maxi-Cosi (using the right adapters). From model year 2002, these car seats also fit on Quinny brand pushchairs, with the exception of the new Quinny Zapp, on which only the Maxi-Cosi CabrioFix or Maxi-Cosi Pebble can be placed. It is also possible to place the Maxi-Cosi CabrioFix or Maxi-Cosi Pebble on pushchairs of a number of other makes. Ask your retailer.
The carrying handle is part of the safety concept of Maxi-Cosi infant car seats and must always be placed upright when driving. This also applies when used with the FamilyFix, EasyFix or Easybase 2 frame. Read the user manual for the car seat. Placing the carrying handle in the upright position protects the child in the event that the car seat rotates towards the back of the rear car seat. The carrying handle also protects against any large objects that might fly through the air near the child. Once the child is securely fastened in the harnesses, his or her head and arms will not hit the carrying handle in the event of an accident.
Babies have a large and heavy head compared to the rest of their body. In addition, their neck muscles are not yet fully developed. If the baby is transported in a forward-facing position, his or her head will be thrown forward in the event of a head-on collision. This can cause serious neck injury and may even be fatal. By placing the baby in a rear-facing position, the forces exerted during the crash will be distributed across the baby’s entire back.
