  • Is it possible to mount my car seat (Group 1 or Group 0+/1) onto the frame of my pushchair?

This is not possible with our current range of products. Our products are developed with a strong focus on safety, quality and user-friendliness. The combination you mention would require that we make concessions to these three aspects. We have decided against making such concessions at this time.

  • How tight should I fasten the safety harness system?

To fasten the harness correctly is key to restrain the child well in the car seat. You need to pull the harness adjuster strap until the harness is close the the child's body. If the harness is correctly tight, you should be able to pass only 1 finger between your child's body and the harness strap. The tighther the harness is, the better your child will be restrained and the safer he/she is in case of an accident.

  • The belts are not the same length. Why is this?

Uneven belts may be caused by the incorrect guiding of the harness system. Check at the back of the car seat that the belts are not twisted and that the pull belt (that runs forward at the bottom of the shell) is in the middle of the system. Also check that the belt can move easily to and fro through the shoulder openings. For smooth movement, the belt buckle should be flapped forward completely. This belt buckle operates by releasing the belt tensioner. If the problem continues after you have checked this, consult your retailer.

  • What should I do if my child opens the buckle on his or her harness belt?

In this case, we recommend, as do all international safety experts, that you stop immediately in a safe place, fasten the buckle once more and tell the child not to open it and the reason for this. It is always a possibility that an inventive, handy or strong child will open the buckle. If the force required to open the buckle were to be considerably increased to make it impossible for the child to open it himself, this would be contrary to the legal safety standards. The position of the buckle, the colour of the button, and the operating or opening force are all laid down in European standards. In the case of an accident, someone providing assistance without any knowledge of car seats must be able to see immediately how to release the child from a car seat in an emergency.

  • Do I have to adjust the safety harness each time I place my child in the car seat?

Yes. Each time you install your child in the car seat you should fasten the safety harness. This is because the child can wear different clothing. If the harness is correctly tight, you should be able to pass only 1 finger between your child's body and the harness strap.

  • What is the right position for the headrest of my child car seat?

The child's head has to be totally protected and should not exceed the headrest.

  • What is the right position/height for the safety harness?

The harness straps should be placed at the level of the shoulders, not coming from above nor below. The headrest should be adjusted in consequence, keeping the harness at the level of the shoulders.

  • Why do Maxi Cosi group 1 car seats have a 5-point safety harness?

All group 1 car seats of Maxi-Cosi have 5 point safety harness with one-pull adjustment. This harness distributes the forces of an impact best over the strong bones of the child and into the seat. Additionally, the 5 point harness allows perfect adjustment of the child and keep him secured in the safest position in the seat.

  • When should I make the transition from a Group I seat to a Group 2/3 seat

For the safety of your child, we recommend using the Group I car seat (9 months to 3 1/2 years/9-18 kg) for as long as possible. Wait to switch your child to a next stage car seat until your child has reached the maximum weight limit or if the top of your child’s head protrudes above the top edge of the seat. As long as the back of your child's head is fully supported by the shell, we advise against making the switch just yet, so that your child can be offered the best possible protection.

  • How can I adjust the safety harness of the Priori XP?

The correct belt height of the shoulder belts is attained when the belt disappears into the shell slightly above the shoulder of the child. Make sure that the shoulder belts fit properly over the shoulders of the child.
Please consult the manual for a visualization of these steps:

    • Loosen the shoulder belts by pressing the release button and pulling the shoulder belts towards you as far as possible.
    • Lift up the flap on the cover by the shoulder belt slots. To make the adjustment easier, pull the shoulder belts on top of the belt pad forward into a loop, loosening them.
    • Push the loop back through the opening.
    • Slide the shoulder belt and the belt pad strap through the slot together into the next position. Make sure that the shoulder belt is positioned on top of the belt pad strap in the new position.
    • Always do this on both sides.
    • Pull the shoulder belts tight by pulling on the belts under the belt pads.
    • Place the flap back in position and thread the belt pads through the correct slots in the flap and secure them with the Velcro.
    • Check whether you are able to use the belts and ensure they are not twisted.

  • How can I make it easier to place my child in the Maxi-Cosi Priori XP and take him out?

The Priori XP has convenient belt hooks that keep harness and buckle pad conveniently out of the way to easy get the child in and out.

  • How can I install the Priori SPS best to the car seat bench?

    • Place the Maxi-Cosi Priori XP on the car seat in the sleeping position.
    • Release the belt tensioner. To do so, push the tab under the handle downwards and open the handle. The handle will now visibly protrude from the base. The belt tensioner should no longer be positioned between the red belt hooks.
    • Thread the seat belt between the shell and the base.
    • Fasten the seat belt in the belt buckle of the car and check to ensure the car seat belt is not twisted. The lap belt should now run under the red seat belt hooks and the shoulder belt should run from the car seat buckle directly diagonally upwards.
    • Place the shoulder belt in the belt clamp on one side only and fasten it. The shoulder belt is now attached on the side of the roll-up mechanism only. The belt clamp is now locked.
    • Push the Maxi-Cosi Priori XP firmly into the car seat whilst at the same time pulling the shoulder belt tight, so that the Maxi-Cosi Priori XP is securely in place.

  • How do I wash the textile cover of the Priori XP car seat?

Remove the Maxi-Cosi Priori XP from the car before carrying out any of the following. The seat may be cleaned with lukewarm water and a gentle soap. Do not use abrasive detergents. The cover and the belt pads must be washed by hand at a maximum temperature of 30°C. Do not use a dryer. Also see washing instructions on the label sewed to the Priori XP cover. The belt buckle may be cleaned with warm water. Do not lubricate.
