FAQs

  • When should my child be moved to a booster seat?

    Answer

If you child is between 30 and 40 pounds and his shoulders are above the upper slots, you should remove the harness and use the seat as a belt-positioning booster. If your child is over 40 pounds, you must remove the harness and use the seat as a belt-positioning booster regardless of the child’s height.

  • Is a booster seat really necessary? My child is six years old. Aren't seat belts sufficient?

    Answer

Vehicle seat belts are designed to fit adults. Boosters elevate children so that safety belts designed for adults will fit correctly. The lap belt should fit flat across a child's upper thighs (not across the soft abdomen, which is more likely to be injured in a crash than bony structures like the pelvis). The shoulder belt should cross snugly over the chest and the middle of a child's shoulder. This positions the vehicle seat belt to be effective in a crash and make the child more comfortable.

  • I dropped my Rodi (SPS, XR XP, AirProtect) car seat on the ground. Do I have to replace it now?

    Answer

No, that is not necessary if it was a normal ‘drop’ and not an extremely hard one or from a considerable height. When a car seat is dropped on the ground, it is not subject to the same kinds of forces as are exerted during a (serious) collision. There is therefore no need to replace the car seat.
