• How does Air Protect work?

  Answer

  Air Protect is a safety system designed to protect children in some of the most severe side impact crashes, those with vehicle intrusion. Side impact crashes are one of the most threatening for children, accounting for more than 30% of child crash fatalities. Air Protect helps to divert crash energy away from the child, releasing air on impact to immediately reducing impact forces. In the Pria 70, Air Protect is used liberally in the main headrest for larger children and in the TinyFit system for small babies. • How is the Pria 70 tested?

  Answer

  The Pria 70 exceeds all government safety standards for car seat safety. This includes major forward-facing crash testing requirements. But that is just the beginning. The Pria 70 is one of only a few car seats designed to protect during severe side impact crashes, those with vehicle intrusion. In those crashes, the car seat, and child occupant, are struck by unbelievable forces. Forces that crumple the door and ram the steel structure into the interior of the car and into the occupant. Simulating that type of severe crash is an innovation in itself, allowing car seat engineers to develop new, life-saving systems like Air Protect.

• How tall is the Pria 70?

  Answer

  The main body of the Pria70 is 25.5” tall. As a child grows, the headrest extends above the main body, growing to 30” tall.

• How wide is the Pria 70?

  Answer

  At the widest point, the Pria 70 is 19.5” wide. The base of the Pria 70 is only 11” wide, making it easier to install on many vehicles.
  

• To help check if my child will fit, how high are the harness shoulder heights and headrest on the Pria 70?

  Answer

  The TinyFit System has 3 harness shoulder heights:
  
  5“ at the lowest
  
  7” in the middle
  
  9” at the highest
  
  The TinyFit insert is about 16” from the seat bottom to the top of the head area. The top of a child’s head cannot exceed the top of the TinyFit insert.
  
  
  
  The main headrest -which uses the PerfectFit, no- rethread harness system- has the following shoulder heights: about 10” at the lowest, 11”, 12”, 13”, 14”, 15”, 16”, 17” and just under 18” at the highest. The top of the headrest is about 7.5” from the top of the harness shoulder position. The middle of a child’s head cannot exceed the top of the headrest when used forward-facing.
  
  
  
  Please note: Harness heights are difficult to measure on any car seat. The shape of the seat and fabric padding can create variations in the measuring process. The above measurements should be a good guide, but you may find some variation as you take your own measurements.
  

• What is the TinyFit System?

  Answer

  TInyFit is a system designed to provide a superior fit for very small babies, as small as 4 pounds. It is a “seat within a seat”, providing more flexibility and adjustment for the occupant. The TinyFit system features a harness shoulder height starting at only 5”, an adjustable buckle system and a more reclined interior rear-facing angle that all contribute to the superior fit. Additionally, the TinyFit system allows the Pria 70 to be installed more upright when rear-facing, using less space in the vehicle. This creates more legroom for passengers in the front seat.
  

• What size babies can fit in the TinyFit System?

  Answer

  Babies between 4 and 22 pounds can ride in the TinyFIt system: as long as the top of the child’s head does not exceed the top of the TInyFIt insert.

• Why are there 2 different required recline positions for the Pria 70 in the forward-facing mode?

  Answer

  For children who ride forward-facing in the Pria 70, there are 2 different recline positions. For children between 22 pounds and 40 pounds, recline position 2 is required. For children between 40 and 70 pounds, recline position 1 is required. These recline positions allow a more reclined riding position for younger children and a more upright position for older children. Not only does this provide an appropriate riding position for different sized children, but the required recline angles also improve crash energy management.
  

• Why is FlexTech important?

  Answer

  Crash energy management is critical for car seat engineering. With children of different sizes and crashes coming from every angle, the challenges of crash energy management are very real. FlexTech is an interior structure system, engineered using advanced computer simulated crash testing techniques. Those techniques have allowed new flexibility in the design process, allowing increased experimentation and new design solutions. FlexTech is the result of those efforts, allowing the Pria to have a rigid or flexible structure in different areas to combat different types of crash impacts.
