Product description

Combine our 3wayFix with the Jade, Pebble Plus or Pearl Pro i-Size, for an easy-to-use Click & Go installation. Our Maxi-Cosi 3wayFix fits both baby and toddler car seats for long-time use.

Installation

These days, more and more European cars have the ISOFIX system, so there is a good chance that yours will have it too. Our Maxi-Cosi 3wayFix easily attaches to your car’s ISOFIX anchor points. Follow the steps in our user manual for it to be correctly installed into your car.

Once installed, you can leave the 3wayFix in the car. This makes getting in and out of the car very easy, because the Pebble Plus baby car seat can be attached to the base with a simple "click”, and our safety carrycot Jade can be attached with a simple "slide”. Visual indicators on the base notify you when your Maxi-Cosi car seat or safety carrycot is correctly secured, and you are ready to "go”.

The 3wayFix also fits our Pearl Pro i-Size car seat for toddlers, allowing you to continue using it even after your little one has outgrown their first car seat or safety carrycot.

The 3wayFix can be installed with the Jade safety carrycot, the Pebble Plus baby car seat, or the Pearl Pro i-Size toddler car seat.

Safety

At Maxi-Cosi we have carried over 50 million babies home from the hospital. To offer your little one the best-in-class safety, our car seats and bases undergo constant testing.

As a manufacturer, we recommend using an ISOFIX base. It’s so easy to install, the chances of doing it wrong are slim to none. The Maxi-Cosi 3wayFix enables a Click & Go installation for a correct and secure fit.

ISOFIX installation for the Jade, Pebble Plus and Pearl Pro i-Size

We understand that owning a baby car seat or safety carrycot, means having to install it correctly every day. Our Maxi-Cosi 3wayFix makes it easy to install your baby car seat or safety carrycot , giving you peace of mind.

The Maxi-Cosi 3wayFix has been constructed to fit our Jade safety carrycot, Pebble Plus baby car seat, and Pearl Pro i-Size toddler car seat, allowing your baby to use the base for up to 4 years. It also offers both a Click & Go and Slide & Go installation.

Additionally, the 3wayFix enables you to install the toddler car seat in rear-facing. For greater protection of your little one’s head and neck, experts recommend that your baby travels in the rear-facing position until he or she grows to 105 cm (approx. 4 years). As the leading specialist in child mobility, we do what the experts say, and allow your little one to travel the right way for as long as possible.

FAQs
Is IsoFix safer than installing with a car seat belt?
If installed properly, a Maxi-Cosi car seat is the safest in its class. The IsoFix method prevents incorrect installation of the car seat, but is no safer than when the seat is installed using the traditional method. IsoFix prevents incorrect installation because a colour indicator (red or green) is used to indicate the correct installation of various parts.
Why does the Maxi-Cosi need a support leg to support IsoFix products?
This support leg serves several functions. The support leg prevents the car seat from rotating (tipping) in the event of an accident. If the support leg is not used, the car seat may be pushed so far into the seat of the car during a front-end collision that the child will be thrown forward and may even hit the front seat or dashboard. The support leg is equipped with an indicator that shows whether the installation is correct. All IsoFix products from Maxi-Cosi have indicators so that you can immediately see whether the car seat has been installed correctly. The indicators are located on the steel IsoFix anchor points and the support leg: a green colour appears if the support leg is adjusted properly. The IsoFix products from Maxi-Cosi rank among the very best and safest car seats on the market. The Maxi-Cosi CabrioFix with EasyFix base has received the highest possible rating of five stars. Your child is guaranteed optimal safety with our IsoFix products.
Can the Maxi-Cosi 3wayFix base be installed in any car?
The Maxi-Cosi 3wayFix has a universal fit on any i-Size seating positions in cars equipped as such. However, there are cars without i-Size seating positions, but with ISOFIX anchorage points. In most cases 3wayFix will fit, but for a full list of compatible cars please consult the "Car Fitting List" at www.maxi-cosi.com.
Is it still safe to use the Maxi-Cosi 3wayFix if the batteries have gone dead ?
Once installed, the safety performance is not affected by the batteries; the lights and sound serve only to indicate correct or incorrect installation. When the batteries are low in voltage, this will be indicated by the LED light visually and by a sound warning. You can change the batteries easily from the bottom of the 3wayFix base. On average, the batteries will last for approximately 2 years.
My car has a floor storage compartment that prohibits correct installation of the support leg, what can I do?
We advise you to check the manual of your car if any information is provided. Otherwise you can contact your car dealer to assess options. It might be possible to place the leg at the bottom of the storage compartment or place the support leg on top of it. Some car brands also sell storage compartment filling material.
The display indicator with one dot remains red, what can I do ?
The light with one dot indicates a correct installation of the ISOFIX connectors of the 3wayFix. Make sure that both ISOFIX connectors at the back of the base are installed correctly to the ISOFIX anchorage points of the car.
The display indicator with two connected dots remains red, what can I do ?
The light with two connected dots indicates a correct installation of the support leg of the 3wayFix. Make sure that the support leg is completely unfolded so that the angle of the support leg is slightly towards the front.
The display indicator with three connected dots remains red, what can I do ?
The light with three connected dots indicates if the car seat is correctly installed onto the 3wayFix base. Please make sure that the front and rear mounting bars of the car seat are correctly clicked, and thus installed onto the base.
What does the ">15m" indicator on the display mean?
The >15m stands for "only to be used in this position as of minimally 15 months old". This is in line with the new i-Size regulation that prescribes to only start transporting children in cars forward facing when they are over 15 months old. By then the child’s neck is strong enough to withstand the impulsive force of an average frontal collision. However, Maxi-Cosi always recommends to transport children rearward facing for as long as possible.
What does the airbag warning indicator on the display mean?
This indicator communicates to turn off an airbag when the 3wayFix is positioned on the front passenger seat. Using a rearward facing car seat in the presence of an active frontal airbag is even not allowed by law. This is for the reason that if it was to inflate, it would expose the child to forces equivalent to a heavy crash and can cause severe injuries or even death. Most cars though do not have ISOFIX anchorages on front passenger seats.
How can I release my car seat from the 3wayFix base?
The car seat can be released from the 3wayFix base by using one of the grey release levers on the side of the base. This is a one-hand operation, therefore it is not needed to operate both release levers simultaneously.
What is the function of the anti-rebound bar on the 3wayFix ?
The anti-rebound bar brings more stability and safety for longer rearward facing use. This way the 3wayFix can be used from birth up to 105 cm (approx. 4 years) rearward facing.
I do not have ISOFIX anchorage points in my car. Can I have them installed?
This is usually not possible because the ISOFIX anchorage points are almost always installed during production in the factory and are attached to the chassis of the car. However, there are a number of car makes that have been offering the ISOFIX system for a number of years as an "option”. In these cars, the assembly points for the anchorages are already integrated into the bottom of the car body. Please contact your car dealer for more information.
Why does the Maxi-Cosi 3wayFix need a support leg?
The support leg serves several functions. The support leg prevents the car seat from rotating (tipping) in the event of an accident. If the support leg is not used, the car seat may be pushed so deep into the seat of the car during a frontal collision that the child will be thrown forward and may even hit the front seat or dashboard. The support leg is equipped with an indicator that shows whether the installation is correct.
I notice that there is some gap between the 3wayFix and my vehicle bench. Is this safe?
This happens in some vehicles configurations where the ISOFIX anchorages are positioned high compared to the vehicle bench. As long as the 2 ISOFIX connectors and the support leg of the 3wayFix are engaged correctly (check display indicators if correctly installed), this is safe. If possible, the support leg can also be adjusted in height in order to reduce the gap. This gap does not affect safety in any case and it is not allowed to fill the gap in any way whatsoever.
Why is the 3wayFix base equipped with a removable and adjustable anti-rebound bar?
In order to allow an optimal fit in even more cars the 3wayFix is equipped with a removable and adjustable anti-rebound bar. In case of a rear bench with a more upright backrest angle, adjusting the anti-rebound bar is needed. This can be done by pulling out the anti-rebound bar, adjusting the wheels on the rear left and right hand side from 1 (100° angle) to 2 (95° angle), and placing back the anti-rebound bar.
I notice that there is a gap between the rear of the 3wayFix and the backrest of the seat bench. How can I reduce this gap?
In case of a rear bench with a more upright backrest angle, it could occur that after installing the base there is a gap between the backrest and the base. The 3wayFix is equipped with a removable and adjustable anti-rebound bar to reduce a possible gap. Therefore, this can easily be solved by first unlocking the ISOFIX connectors and by pulling out the anti-rebound bar. Then adjust the wheels on the rear left and right hand side from 1 to 2 to get from a 100° angle to a 95° angle. Reinstall the anti-rebound bar and install the base again by connecting the ISOFIX connectors and placing the support leg in the correct position.
Are spare parts available for the 3wayFix?
Yes, please contact your local baby specialized store or contact Maxi-Cosi Consumer Care for spare parts and other service related matters.
