Product description

No matter how long your trip is, as a parent, you want your little one to be safe in the car. The Maxi-Cosi Rodi SPS is our most affordable child car seat. It makes sure your child enjoys a safe comfortable journey every time you hit the road.

One of the best features of our Maxi-Cosi Rodi SPS, is that it fits almost any car. The child seat is attached with the seat belt of the car, so it should fit yours too. Simply place the child seat on the back seat of your car, buckle up with the seat belt, and your are ready to go.

At Maxi-Cosi, your little one’s safety is our highest priority. From infant carriers for newborn babies to car seats for 12-year-olds, we are here to help carry families happily into the future.

Our safe Rodi SPS car seat is equipped with a Side Protection System, protecting your little one from damaging side impacts. In case of a side collision, Maxi-Cosi Rodi SPS’s SPS (Side Protection System) reduces the risk of an injury by absorbing the force of an impact, making sure your child is well-protected.

Safe and simple child seat

Besides its super safe Side Protection System, we constructed our Maxi-Cosi Rodi SPS to be as light as possible, making it easy for you as a parent to carry and transfer the car seat to another car. It’s extremely convenient if you own a second car! The simple child seat is safely attached by your car’s seat belt, allowing it to fit most cars.

The lightweight car seat remains comfortable for your little one as they grow. Its headrest’s adjustable height adapts to your child’s growth, all the way up to when they turn 12!

Removable cover

Because your little one could get car sick on the road, the cover of our Maxi-Cosi car seat can easily be removed. So no matter what happens, you’ll have no problem washing Maxi-Cosi’s car seat cover in the washing machine.

Are children taller than 1.35 metres required to sit in a child car seat?
No, but they must wear a car seat belt!
Can I add the air cushions to my current Rodi?
The air cushions on the Rodi AirProtect are integrated foam parts and cannot be added after production.
I dropped my Rodi (SPS, XR XP, AirProtect) car seat on the ground. Do I have to replace it now?
No, that is not necessary if it was a normal ‘drop’ and not an extremely hard one or from a considerable height. When a car seat is dropped on the ground, it is not subject to the same kinds of forces as are exerted during a (serious) collision. There is therefore no need to replace the car seat.
Is it true that it is no longer allowed to use a booster cushion/seat without back support?
Not only Maxi-Cosi, but also independent consumer organisations like the Dutch Consumers’ Association advise strongly against using a seat booster without back support. Back support is essential, particularly for reasons of side impact protection, though also due to the positioning of the seat belt around the neck and chest. Booster seats and cushions without back support are not yet prohibited, but must comply with the minimum requirements of the ECE R44/03 and ECE R44/04 standards.
The seat belt does not retract when my child falls asleep in the Maxi-Cosi Rodi. What should I do?
The Maxi-Cosi Rodi SPS, Rodi XP, Rodi XR and AirProtect provide greater sitting comfort and safety for your child. Both the child and the car seat are secured with the seat belt. The Maxi-Cosi Rodi XR and Rodi AirProtect have a reclining position, while the Maxi-Cosi Rodi SPS and XP do not. If a child falls asleep and slumps forward, the seat belt will gradually move forward together with the child. This is a feature of automatic belts. If the automatic mechanism does not roll up the belt properly, the third belt point (direction of the automatic mechanism) is probably in an incorrect position, i.e. placed too far forward. The seat belt is then threaded at an almost impossible angle, resulting in too much friction in the belt hook. This situation can occur in some station wagons, for example. For this reason we recommend that you try installing the car seat in your car before purchasing it. Your retailer can help you with this. Note: Always secure a Rodi seat with the belt, even when there is no child sitting in it.
Is it possible to fit 3 car seats on the back seat?
Depending on the type of car, 3 car seats may fit on the back seat.We recommend taking your car to the retailer to check this.
Can I use a car seat on the front passenger seat?
Child car seats can be placed on the front passenger seat, but the rear seat is preferable. When using a baby car seat (0-13 months) on the front passenger seat, make sure the seat does not have a frontal airbag or that the airbag has been deactivated. When using car seats for older children (9 months to 12 years), the front passenger seat must be in the rearmost position.
Is it safe to use second-hand car seats?
We advise against purchasing a used car seat. The history of a second-hand car seat is often unknown. In other words, you cannot know for certain how it has been used. Car seats that have been involved in an accident are no longer guaranteed to be safe. The car seat may also be damaged in some other way or may be incomplete.
Why do I need a car seat?
The use of an approved child car seat is required by law for all children up to a height of 1.35 metres. This requirement applies to all countries that belong to the European Union. Car seats and boosters with ECE R44/04 certification meet the minimum requirements of this new law.
